Scimitar Oryx Hunting at our Family Ranch:
Hunts at the ranch are mainly stalk and shoot, with occasional time spent in hunting blinds.
Guides are seasoned hunters who know the property well and are familiar with scimitar-horned oryx behavior.
Hunt difficulty ranges from relatively easy to extraordinarily difficult depending on the skill of the hunter and our guides, and how well they work together as a team.
If the animals are unaware they are being hunted, opportunities for harvest come frequently. Once the animals know they are under pressure, their behavior changes dramatically and it may take days to achieve success.
Habitat on the ranch ranges from open fields to thick Texas brush. Shots are from shooting sticks, vehicle braces, or blinds at 50-200 yards. Calibers of .270 or greater are preferred. The family that owns the ranch has a long history with, and affection for these animals: Our guides work hard to ensure enjoyable hunting and humane, ethical kills.
Hunts range from trophy bulls to “no horn oryx” or “broke horn oryx” meat hunts. See pricing.
This ranch is a second home for the family that owns it. The family uses oryx hunting for population control. Profit is secondary to our enjoyment of the property and desire to treat the animals humanely. Therefore, we are selective about who is permitted to hunt the property. Responsible hunters who are good people are always welcome.
We can handle new or inexperienced hunters; we just need you to be considerate and responsible while on the property with us.
