Open fields to thick brush. A guide who reads the country. Use our UTV or bring your own. Bring a .270 or larger rifle you shoot well, or a bow if you’re skilled. Field dressing is handled and we’re flexible with the experience. We’ll tailor it to your preferences.

THE HUNT EXPERIENCE

Most Texas Oryx Hunt experiences are conducted by spot-and-stalk, with occasional time in blinds when conditions make that the better choice. Your guide will help read the wind, judge animal movement, evaluate horn quality, avoid pregnant or nursing females, and decide when to slow down or reposition.

Scimitar oryx can be remarkably calm when they have not felt pressure. Once a herd is aware of hunting activity, their behavior can change quickly. A good opportunity may come early, or it may take patient glassing, careful walking, and several attempts before everything lines up.

Our Approach

A hunt run by a family, not a factory.

This is a private family ranch, and we are selective about who we invite to hunt. Profit is secondary to running an ethical, well-managed operation we are proud of. Responsible hunters who are good people are always welcome, and how well the hunt goes depends on skill, patience, and how well the hunter and guide work together as a team.

  • Good people are always welcome. New and inexperienced hunters are a good fit here, as long as they are safe, considerate, and willing to learn.
  • Easy to demanding. A hunt can range from relatively straightforward to highly strategic and challenging depending on the animal, the terrain, and the day.
  • Real country. The property includes lots of open fields and plenty of thick Texas brush, on foot with occasional time in a blind.
  • People over profit. We would rather turn down a booking than compromise the ranch, the animals, or the experience.
